Enspec has undertaken a number of projects to assess how novel applications of materials science and engineering can improve manufacturing efficiency and increase flexibility.
Examples include:
- Surface engineering of scraped surface heat exchanger barrels and blades to improve wear and corrosion resistance.
- Development of hygienic plastic pipeline joining techniques.
- Non-metallic coatings and linings for hygienic applications with improved cleanability and corrosion resistance.
- Polymeric linings to increase the reliability of recyclers in powder processing.
- Assessment of metal matrix and other composites for lightweighting, improved damping and speed up of machines.
- Assessment of surface damage and techniques to improve wear resistance on freezer barrel scraper blades.
